Uncanny Bodies, 2021
Sound design: Jason Charney
Single channel video
Running time 4 minutes, 38 seconds

As beings confined to our own understanding of time and space, the camera lens offers a portal into a new world of scale. As you condense to the size of a grain of sand, your relationship to the world changes. The space is intimate, but expansive. Your time here is brief, but the opportunity for discovery is immense. Look closely… the life hides in the details.

Angle of Repose, 2021
Single channel video
Running time 5 minutes, 40 seconds0

Angle of Repose is about the hidden ice in rock glaciers and its importance as slow-release water sources for down-valley ecosystems. Miniature ice sculptures made from sand and glacial runoff replicate the geological process in a human timeframe. I create these sculptures by layering sand and snow, applying pressure with my hands to compact the layers into ice. I document the melting of these miniature glaciers, collaborating with gravity and solar radiation to induce movement from frozen forms.
