A mysterious oil painting of a glowing cave. Rocks and stalagmites poke up from the bottom of the diamond shaped entrance, appearing like the mouth of a beast. An inviting yet sickly glow emanates from inside the cavern.

Howling Cave,
2020
Oil on canvas
8” x 10”

I envisioned a landscape that simultaneously draws the viewer in, while warning them that there are dangers ahead protecting whatever is inside. I wanted to preserve the transparency of the yellow paint in contrast to the deep greens and browns that give it a glowing effect.

Inner Storm, 2021
oil on clayboard panel
20” x 16”

This painting represents an accumulation of marks that have been scraped or smudged away spontaneously. Through each mark making feels like a description of my inner turmoil as I try to build up the piece.
